We don’t know where Ruoho Ruotsi has been hiding but based on the quality of this release and the accompanying 12″ also out on Defchild this week we’re sure you’ll be hearing LOTS more from him. The original version of ‘Vrng Sqrd’ sounds like Robag Wruhme sat down with Trentemoller, the two had a couple of beers and headed off to the studio. Lush, seemingly endless synth and bass patterns flow over some killer minimal drum grooves, full billowing bass drops and cut-up laptop edits. Igor Vlasov of the Handheld label provides a breathtaking remix that adds fragmented voices, funky b-line riffs and layers of floating analogue warmth. As good as minimalhouse gets folks!
